WAGS 09.03.2022: Odelouca or Words Fail Me
Late Extra by ex-CB:
I saw Rod this morning, fully repentant, tail between his legs and with the expression of a whipped puppy, extremely hurt by John's impatience for his report and having published his 'Words Fail Me Blog', the clear implication being that he had been given no words to base the blog and pictures on by the leader.
Rod protested that he had never failed to furnish his report before the following Wednesday so far, and that John had been a little hasty in publishing without the main meat and potatoes. Perhaps he had been a little disheartened by discovering that the fabulous Scotch Pie he worships had been displaced by a 'Vegetarian gluten-free concoction', in the British Pie competition. The Supreme Champion winning pie was apparently called a ‘Gluten Free Mooless Pie’ by Pieminister of Bristol
(Ingredients: Gluten Free Pastry, Jackfruit ‘Steak’, Craft Ale, Black Pepper). Further info on this competition, may be included in a future blog by the CB when and if he recovers. Now after seeing Rod's apology, I would be heartless if I didn't shoehorn it into the Post rather than in comments, so here goes:
Wow.. a wordless blog submission on a walk in absentia. This has to be some sort of record! So is this our comeuppance for our abject failure to volunteer for blog duty? No weekly philosophical musings? No walk commentary?.....and personal punishment for me by not even being granted a day or two grace period for late (as usual, but eventually always done) submission of the walk report. Oh well, we get what we deserve no doubt!
I would however not like to break my personal record.. however late!.. for nearly having missed a walk report. So I will just stick it in here.
WAGS W 9/3.
Yves, Peter, Hazel, Myriam, Dina and Rod gathered at the Parreirinha Cafe on the Odelouca R. Bridge. From there we drove up to the Odelouca Dam in 2 cars. The purpose of this walk....a modification of one done a year or more ago, was to observe the state of the dam water level and to get a little cardio exercise in fairly hilly terrain. The water level was indeed slightly higher than expected...clearly not a crisis level quite yet. We got our exercise by staggering up to the ambitious Cruzes trig point....actually coming down proved rather more challenging. The views over the lake, the dam itself, and north towards Picota and the Monchique River valley were as usual magnificent.
After the drive back to Parreirinha we eventually found a table and were joined by John, still hors de combat from his damaged Achilles tendon. Parreirinha has a really very adequate menu do dia, enjoyed as usual by all...well nearly all.
Next week...16/3...will be the last I can do for 3 or 4 weeks..

Please note the last line: I too will be away until 5th May, and with John partially disabled too, "Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of the party."
A picture is worth a thousand words... That was quite a story told there!
ReplyDeleteI’m sure if anyone knows what happened on the way round, it might be tagged on to this modern format minimalist blog. Personally I am waiting to hear about the World Pie Contest but if we are lucky, it may appear on the WAGS WASPS Blog. Great choice of music btw.
ReplyDeleteMight I suggest an additional tune by Franklin Mullen -
