WAGS 20.04.2022: Hallo and Goodbye at Casinhas
The title of this blog would be more accurate if it were “Goodbye and Hallo at Casinhas” because Rod who did not walk (indisposed) was there at the start to wave us off, and Rachel and Chris who also did not walk were there to welcome us back.
This was one of Hazel´s walks. Good to see Janet back with us. Paul, Myriam ,Antje and Chris were absent still on their travels and Maria had to call off at the last minute, down with the dreaded lurgi.
Hazel meanwhile had caught another sort of infection from Ingrid. Ingrid, as regular readers may recall, resolutely refuses to report on any walk she leads. So Hazel says to herself ”if Ingrid can get away without doing a report, then I`ll jolly well refuse to do one as well.”
What can one do when faced with such bolshie feminine behaviour, I ask you.
The answer is to do an illustrated report with only a few words of comment here and there.
It was a fine sunny day, good for walking if a trifle breezy, and the pictures of the spring flowers may cheer you up on this wet and gloomy weekend in the Algarve.

Back at Casinhas, Ingrid and Janet did not stay for lunch as is their wont, Dina and Yves too had some urgent reason not to stop. And it was then that we encountered another example of bolshie feminine behaviour when the waitress refused to serve Terry coffee on the grounds that she was only doing lunches. So a disgruntled Terry departed with Becky probably to some friendlier hostelry. “The pub with no beer” is the ultimate Australian nightmare; now here we have “The cafĂ© with no coffee.”

There´s a nice line in this closing song:-

Nice firm line you took with the rebellious leader, John. It is time we instituted an award for leaders who don't comment or describe the events that came to pass during their contribution. How about the Lemon Lips Award? 🍋👄🍋💋
ReplyDelete'Twas a fine morning, plenty of chatter, plenty of scrumping, plenty of sunshine: what more could we want? Perhaps a tiny bit more 'allant' in the stride? Well, can't have everything and the lack of 'allant' gave an ideal opportunity to check that the batteries had not gone flat in ye old whistle: we gave it a test and lo! It was heard from afar by others who promptly ignored it first but then remembered the old 10% rule and waited patiently for the party to regroup...
ReplyDeletewould have been nice to enjoy a Bifana on pao caseiro but that wasn't to be... One of'em days!
