WAGS 07 12 2022: What Else But Singing In The Rain

Somewhat misled by a rather optimistic weather forecast, I managed to entice four unsuspecting and over trusting walkers to join me on a morning which proved to be much wetter than I had suggested. "The skies will clear from the west by 10,30" I declared. Not on your wellies !

We assembled at Pescadores and took a series of Starter photos, beginning indoors to avoid the rain.

A serious picture, but the men got their legs all wrong

So we tried again - almost right

Then we moved outside and prepared to set off, to the amusement of a group of local workmen who were enjoying the rain because it gave them an excuse not to work but to consume copious aguardentes from inside the shelter of the café.

Yves wittily entitles this one "Waiting For Lo-dot" (get it?) because four of us were waiting for Myriam who was entangled in her poncho and the arms of a young man who was allegedly trying to help her disentangle.

Then we were off, in a comparatively cheerful state of mind. The leader, at least, had music on his mind.

And here is the Leader´s version; unfortunately, his singing is drowned out by the camera crew´s chatter.

Deep in the forest, we came upon an abandoned Forestry vehicle

Not a trig point, but Maria as the youngest had to get up there

The ground was looking quite damp.

Not easy to get at the chocolate what with these ponchos.

Some of us managed to keep smiling

but not everyone could, not all of the time

At the top of the walk, we made a little excursion eastwards and then back the same way, purely to fill in time.

Then, near the end, the Leader and two others went down to the right to rejoin the path we had started on, while Hazel, who seems to walk faster and faster the longer the walks go on, did her own thing, raced ahead and went left followed by the ever-gallant Yves as bodyguard. Luckily she knew exactly where she was, knew the route, and got both of them  home.

Back at Pescadores, hot chocolate was the drink of choice for some as we watched a group of local worthies playing cards.

Peanuts on the table , but money did change hands under it.

Yves then said his farewells, and the rest of us then adjourned for lunch at Café Norinha, where we were joined by Terry plus carer Philippa and daughter Claire, and Paul.

A good selection of food, as always, with the feijoada - beans and pigs trotters -  being particularly tasty.

Last week´s quiz.

The question was what is the connection between these statements. Surprisingly, no answers were received.

The solution:-

( See www.wearethe mighty.com North Korea propaganda claims, etc., etc. )

This week´s quiz

What´s the connection between these four panels?

and we will conclude with a third version of Singing In The Rain, by Morecombe and Wise.
