WAGS 2024 02 28: A Trip Along The Coast And Down Memory Lane
There were yellow blossoms on the trees as Antje led a small group up onto the boardwalk from Dona Ana beach. Here is her report (in red type) plus some other bits and pieces.)
A walk to talk seemed to
be Wednesday´s theme.
We, that is John Hazel, Maria, Myriam, Rod,
Yves, and Antje plus Chris with Sascha, met at the beginning of the
walkway at Praia Dona Ana. No coffee was to be had so we started on time after some artistic photography on the steps.
It was a perfect, sunny spring day with a slight breeze. The views across Lagos bay and and of the cliffs were spectacular and we visited every single viewing platform, of which there are many.
The going was slow but
nobody minded and quite a number of passers-by stopped for a chat.
In that mood your leader suggested a coffee stop at the restaurant
next to the light house.
Chris and Sacha, whom we expected to meet there, had passed already.
as these pictures show, breaking the WAGS land speed record was the last thing on our minds.
The last time we did this walk (25th October 2023), the Lagos Camera was still busy working on the road, on the car parks and on completing the boardwalk. This was the end bit then.
And this is the completed article now.
At some stage of the walk, Yves had spotted an orange flower......
The Orange Flower and, in Proust-like fashion, this triggered off a burst of nostalgia on his part. As he put it:
"Yesterday, there were a few of those orange daisies around and somehow, they triggered this old and tired mind of mine…About half-a-million years ago, we were in France and it seemed like a good idea to photograph Catherine with one such flower. It took a lot of searching to put my ‘virtual paws’ on it again: would you please allow a tiny bit of nostalgia in the Blog? Won’t happen again, promise!"

Shortly after this, Hazel left the walk early to do other things and the rest of us strolled on a little more before heading for lunch.
We continued in this leisurely fashion to the end of the walkway at the back of the Cascade development and then made our way back along some paths to the Restaurant Trinidade near our start. Chris had reserved a table for lunch there and Paul also joined us.

The borrego went down well
Sorry, wrong meal.
Not sure what that was
