Every walking Wednesday is the
highlight of the week. For nearly 30 years, I have followed the
leaders, past and present, all over the Algarve, sometimes further
afield, and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the countryside.
I am
grateful for their generosity and friendship for allowing me to
follow them.
We were at our "prime", speeding at over
5km/hours, up and down steep hills and valleys. Glad to say that no
major accidents had occurred.
Now in our declining years, we are
pleased to be able to stroll at about 3km/hour!
I know my days of
going up and down steep slopes are numbered. Last Wednesday helped me
to finally admit that the day has arrived. I still can walk,
fortunately, but only on flat grounds and gentle slopes with firm
underfoot!!
I DO hope that we will be able to continue this weekly
tradition for many more years to come.
Our varied topics of
conversation have become an integral part of Wednesday. We may argue
on some subjects till our eyes popped out and faces turned purple,
but we remain as friends, confident that we will repeat the same
banter the following Wednesday!
Of course, another attraction is
the lunch! One doesn't need to walk, but still can earn a jolly good
lunch, with more banter and conversation.
Let's march on!

is with Lesley who writes:-
"This is what I saw. Even better than a green heron.

"I spotted him after we´d crossed the dam wall (note the correct spelling of dam) That´s why I fell so far back. I only stopped watching when it flew away, as I knew it was a rare bird to spot. Very grateful to Rod that he showed me a new spot to bird. Thank you."
If a picture is worth a thousand words then a very wordy log indeed. I made it 31,000 virtual words plus actual agreeable words from Myriam, Leslie and a few captions. However, to a reader who is familiar with both the intricacies of WAGS Walks and the subtleties' of Blog writing
ReplyDelete'The Rescue ' left one or two unanswered questions! Well I won't ask them here but should anyone who is not walking actively have read the Blog, no doubt they will be overwhelmed with curiosity and enough questions to enquire personally of 'The Rescued'.
The photos are of a very high standard, so unless it is just my new found clarity of vision after my cataract ops, John's proper camera is doing a great job.
Well done Chief Blogger, Myriam and Leslie and let's see more guest writers on the new style blog.
