The final WAGS walk of the year took place at Bensafrim. It was a simpole, straight-forward type of walk because JohnH was determined to avoid the sort of fiasco that had arisen under his leadership in October last year when he had led them miles and miles, increasingly in the wrong direction and theey had all had to get ferried back to base in cars.

Looking at the graffiti work of the local artist called Wasp.
Even so, there is better art to be seen in the town, but that picture is not the local history our blog title refers to, interesting although it is |
Rather it is to do with this old lady who Myriam and Maria stopped and spoke to. On this occasion, Maria in particular had a very long conversation with her and will tell you more.
You see, when we got back to the Bensafrim Café, we noticed that they had erected a pictorial display showing pictures and telling the life stories of 15 or so prominent Bensafrim citizens, among whom was our old lady with examples of the dolls she makes. Her name is Almerinda Bárbara, born 1933 - see below for more
The Track and the Statistics
On this occasion the Leader managed to get everybody safely back by 12.30 pm in time for lunch.
The Lunch
The five walkers were joined by Chris and Antje, and Paul and Armando

The blogger does´t know what Paul and Armando had had to eat because they has already consumed it by the time he felt able to take the pictures. One doesn´t complain about Rota Algarviana very often but, on this occasion, it was not satisfactory to sit there for more than 20 minutes before our drink orders were taken while later arrivals got served their drinks and food before us. Service could be better.
Carapau Grelhados and Massa de Peixe were also served but JohnH´s new camera is seemingly allergic to fish and declined to focus on them..
The puds were, as usual, good.

Back to the Local History
I´m sure that Myriam will do a translation for the record.
