WAGS 2025 02 05: Two For The Price Of One

Two for the price of one ?

ONE expedition of seven people to the Bravura barragem and they got TWO separate walks out of it. Rod´s Leaders Report explains.

John....following your prompting! The map was inadvertently deleted but I have enough previous versions not  to notice the omission....the measurements are more or less correct though.

On a splendid sunny morning John & Hazel, Lesley, Antje, Myriam, Maria and Rod gathered at our usual, much visited Odeaxere restaurant  except new owners have moved in and rechristened it Fogo de Lenha Restaurante e Grill.

Before: Snack Bar Lopo

and After: Fogo De Lenha Restaurante e Grill

Following coffee most generously financed by John we drove up to Barragem de Bravura...mostly to observe what a dam only 14% full looked like.

Well, it actually looked 86% empty and John was so depressed at the prospect he decided to walk elsewhere.

So the diminished group now 86% female set off along the lakeside path occasionally catching sight of the water, now a rather gloomy shade of pea green, far below.

We ambled along to the point where the track swings up and away from the lake. After a brief discourse, time and sloth determined we  should retrace our steps back the way from whence we came. At 6.8 k this only saved us about 0.5k of distance but it did save about 60m of verticality!

We reconnected with John back at the car park and he produced an A I  enhanced photo as some sort of  evidence he had indeed been for a stroll.

And so back to the restaurant  to find Chris and Paul had only been there 15 minutes so were only mildly impatient.

The Track and the Statistics

The main groups´ track got deleted as Rod said, so we are left only with John´s track.

So statistically (and one is allowed to do what one will, with statistics),  since Rod and the main group did 6.8 kms and John ´s track was 6.5 kms, we can put down a combined 13.3 kms.

The Lunch

The cheerful host at Fogo de Lenha had explained to  us earlier that this was in fact his first venture into running a restaurant. And your Blogger had asked for comments on the results form the group.

Comments came there none - not even from Myriam who perhaps had shot her bolt with her sensitive critique last week of the Alberga do Marina in Lagos. Anyway, the Fogo de Lenha meal was good in parts. The entremeada came out as a sort of mixed grill which didn´t even get past the photography selection committee.

The Feijão de Choco, on the other hand, brought smiles to the customers´ faces

and the simple omelette got rave reviews on the spot from Lesley and Rod.

Home-made desserts were not bad.

Once they have got their act together it will probably do well. And we will probably be back.

Comments

  1. 6 out of 7 was not bad for a new restaurant and the carafe wine was accept able. Antje
