WAGS 2025 11 12: Antje Nearly Gets The Grand Slam

Congratulations to Antje: not only did she organise the walk and the lunch, but she did the report, recorded the essential statistic, and also took the photographs. All she needs to do now is to learn how to publish  the blog as well and she will be awarded the big cigar ! Here is her mega contribution.

"A few words and photos about today’s walk.
Maria, Myriam, Christl and Antje met at Lagos Station for a walk, its length depending on how stormy the weather was going to be.
Chris and Sascha had joined us for a short coffee time beforehand.

Well, it was after 10.30 when we started as Myriam had been delayed.

We set off towards the fishing harbour. Rumours have it that it will be closed and the fishermen moved to Portimâo. The reason: to turn the basin into a mooring for very large yachts. We all agreed that this plan was not acceptable.
We passed the cat colony - nobody was at home - and headed for the breakwater. The waves in the bay were by now quite large and a group of would-be surfers practised in the shelter of the quay.

We all wanted to walk to the end but the going was quite slow as every step had to be considered. So we decided to not go to the end and turned back.

Heading back, we caught the end of the walkway and stayed on it until we had reached the “Gavota” restaurant.
By then it was after 12 , the sky had turned darker and lunch had been agreed as being at one o’ clock.  So we decided to walk back.
We left the walkway near  the garage and walking through  “Das Dunas” reached Tasca at 1 pm..
We didn’t rush, stopping for rests and the overall distance was 5.6 km.  Enough to give all an appetite for lunch, enjoy plenty of fresh air and animated discussions.
My optimism had been  rewarded and it stayed dry throughout.
Tasca was packed. The noise level took some getting used to but the food was good as always.

Maria had Lulas, Antje Sardines, Myriam Bacalhāo com Grao, Hans and Christl shared a portion of fried garlic prawns and Chris enjoyed grilled  Bacalhāo".
